By downloading you will get all files to make your print & play version of Squirrel Island. If you want to try the digital version on Tabletop Simulator it can be found on our Steam page.

Squirrel Island is a card game for 2-4 players with a playtime of 30-60 minutes.

When the first nut falls, the game to gather nuts begin. Use your stamina to recruit squirrels and purchase items to help you gather more nuts than your opponents. The winner will be the one who has gathered most nuts at the end of the last day. But you will also add your stashed nuts which might give you a surprise victory!

Squirrels with Loops give you more resources while Unique squirrels have abilities that change the way you play. Find the most efficient nut-producing strategy from the cards in your hand and on the island to win.

List of components:

Squirrel Island component set-up

  • 120 Cards
  • 4 Player Tiles & Mats
  • 1 Island Board
  • 4 Stamina Tokens
  • 1 First Player Token
  • Nut & Coin tokens

Notes for making the components:

We recommend that you don't make the nut and coin tokens. At least to begin with since it can be pretty time-consuming. Instead use poker-chips, coins and tokens from other games or just anything you have at hand.

The tiles, mats and board works fine just as printed paper but we suggest gluing them to some cardboard for easier use.

When it comes to the cards there are many ways on how to approach it.  The method we use and recommend doesn't involve gluing. Simply cut out all Squirrel Island cards and put them in a card sleeve together with a real card from another game. If you don't have access to spare cards and sleeves we suggest heading to your local game store where you can get help to find the sleeves you need. If you're lucky they also have a bunch of Magic cards that would go to the trash anyway so ask if you can have some.

How to play

Aside from the PDF Rulebook, there is also a web version of the rules available at our website: https://squirrelislandgame.com/rules/.

The how to play video shows you how to play using Tabletop Simulator. The only differences being that the island board isn't divided in two in the physical version and when you play on a real table we suggest stashing the cards under your player mat. (If you have glued the mats to cardboard, otherwise it probably doesn't work very well.)

You can also log the game and rate it on Board Game Geek.

Happy gaming!

Hello,

Any plans to offer a printed retail version of this game?  Or, do you have the files in a printer ready format that I can send to someone to get printed professionally?

David

Hi David, we're not working on a retail version at the moment.

We don't have print ready files but it's ok to edit the PnP files and send to a print on demand company or such as a user on board game geek did. He uploaded his edited files here on our BGG page. This was for printing with https://www.printplaygames.com/ but you might be able to use his files with other print companies.
